Danielle Guarracino is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), School of Science. Her work focuses on peptide-based therapeutics, protein-protein interactions, and thrombosis research.
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Yale University (2008)
- M.S. in Organic Chemistry, Yale University (2004)
- A.B. in Chemistry, Cornell University (2002)
Her research explores peptidomimetics, including lasso peptides and cyclic scaffolds, to inhibit thrombosis initiation by targeting the von Willebrand factor-collagen interaction. Recent publications highlight advancements in macrocyclic helix mimetics and their protease stability. She integrates research into undergraduate education, as seen in her Journal of Chemical Education work on remote learning adaptations during the pandemic.
Key article trends include peptide engineering for therapeutic applications, antiviral peptidomimetics, and structural analysis of beta-peptides.
- Franklin Research Grant (2024)
- SOSA and CETL Mini Grant Awards (2024, 2022)
- Hamilton Grants for HPLC columns and pipettes (2022)
- ASBMB Undergraduate Faculty Travel Award (2022)
Guarracino mentors students in peptide synthesis and biochemical research, advising numerous collaborative publications. She serves on TCNJ’s Chemistry Academic Affairs Committee, Promotions and Reappointment Committee (PRC), and School of Science Colloquium Committee.
