Danielle Christmas is an Associate Professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, endowed as the Delta Delta Delta Fellow in the Humanities. She holds a B.A. in English from Washington University in St. Louis and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research focuses on the intersections of slavery, the Holocaust, and American socioeconomic discourses, supported by grants from the Mellon Foundation, ACLS, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. She also explores Southern history, Confederate monuments, lynching narratives, and white nationalist literature.
Her courses include topics such as 'Slavery and the Holocaust in American Fiction and Film' and 'African American Literature to 1930.' She is affiliated with Jewish Studies, American Studies, and Carolina Public Humanities. Recent projects include analyzing white nationalist culture and peacebuilding through George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution.

Research & Teaching: Current manuscripts include studies on plantation and Holocaust narratives, and white nationalist literature. She has presented at venues like the University of Michigan and UNC’s 'Slavery and Its Afterlives' series. Office: Greenlaw 411.
