Dr. Danielle Cath is a Professor in Mental Health Innovation at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Medical Sciences. She specializes in anxiety and depressive disorders, with a focus on OCD spectrum disorders, Tourette’s syndrome, and their somatic consequences. Her roles include serving as a psychiatrist, head of the medical specialist training program at Drenthe Mental Health Center, and honorary professor. She is actively involved in national advisory committees and societies such as the European Society of the Study of Tourette’s Syndrome.
Research Interests: Her work spans clinical and translational research in psychiatry, including pharmacogenomics, neurobiology of anxiety and OCD, and innovative treatment approaches like cannabidiol therapy. She leads studies on genetic underpinnings of psychiatric disorders and the impact of metabolic comorbidities in mental health.
Grants & Collaborations: Collaborates internationally on projects like the ENIGMA-TS consortium for neuroimaging genetics and the PGC-TS working group for genome-wide association studies. Her research is supported by grants focusing on treatment response prediction and mental health innovation.
