Dr. Danielle Beliveau-Derion is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at Belmont Abbey College. With over 20 years of experience in education, she has taught across K-8 grades and in higher education, specializing in literacy, inclusive education, and educational leadership. She previously served as Director of Literacy for the Florida Department of Education.
Dr. Beliveau-Derion holds a Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership, and a Master of Science in Education-Reading (both from Nova Southeastern University), and a Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Student Education from the University of Central Florida.
Her research focuses on literacy science and equitable learning opportunities, emphasizing strategies to support diverse learners. She has presented widely on topics such as lesson adaptation for special needs students, recruitment/retention strategies in education, and professional development for educators.
She has advised students through courses like Educational Assessment, Educational Perspectives, and Children’s Literature. Her work emphasizes empowering students and educators through evidence-based practices. She is an avid advocate for literacy equity and outdoor adventurer in her free time.
