Danielle Anne Parks was an Associate Professor of Roman Art and Archaeology at Brock University's Department of Classics and Archaeology (now Classics and Archaeology), serving from 2001 until her untimely death in 2007. She specialized in Roman and Late Roman archaeology, particularly focusing on Cyprus. Her research emphasized burial customs, Hellenistic/Roman period tombs, and the application of gender studies to archaeological analysis.
Education: PhD (1999) and MA (1991) in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Missouri; AB-ScB (1988) in Classical Archaeology and Fluid Mechanics from Brown University.
Research concentrated on Cypriot archaeology, including excavations at Kourion and contributions to understanding funerary practices through spatial analysis and material culture. Her work often bridged classical studies with interdisciplinary methods like geochemical analysis of trade networks.
Notable awards include the annual Danielle Anne Parks Memorial Scholarship supporting graduate studies in Greco-Roman culture, and the CAARI Fellowship for Cypriot archaeology research. Despite battling leukemia from 2004, she continued teaching, publishing, and mentoring students until her passing.
