Daniele Santucci is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Director of Italian Studies in the Department of Romance Studies at the School of Arts and Sciences, Tufts University, a position he has held since September 2024. Previously, he served as a Lecturer in the same department from August to September 2024.
His educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2024) and a Master of Arts from the Università per Stranieri di Siena, Italy.
Professor Santucci's research spans Contemporary Italian literature, gender and sexuality studies, queer studies, border studies, environmental humanities, and second language acquisition. His work explores intersections of identity, migration, and ecological concerns in contemporary Italian cultural production, with a focus on pedagogical applications in language education.
He has been awarded several fellowships and grants, including:
- Chancellor's Graduate School Fellowship from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2023)
- Student Research Grant from the Graduate School of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2022)
- Language Institute Grant from the Language Institute, UW-Madison (2022-2024)
In addition to his research, Santucci is actively involved in professional academic activities, having participated as a panelist and chair in multiple conferences such as NeMLA, PAMLA, and GAFIS symposia. He teaches a range of Italian language and literature courses at Tufts University, including Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced Italian, as well as specialized topics like 'Mapping Otherness' and 'Modern Italian Literature'.
