Daniele Nantes is a tenured Adjunct Professor at the Department of Mathematics, University of Brasília (since 2016), currently on long sabbatical as a Research Fellow at Imperial College London. She holds a PhD in Mathematics (2013) from the University of Brasília and was a visiting research fellow at King's College London (2014). She leads the Theoretical Computer Science Group (GTC-UnB) and collaborates with the VIDI project 'Unifying Correctness for Communicating Systems'.
Research Focus: Her work develops mathematical foundations for critical systems verification, specializing in:
- Rewrite-based frameworks for system specification/verification
- Nominal techniques and equational unification
- Concurrency models and comparative expressiveness
- Formal methods for security and software verification
Publications: Recent works (2019-2023) demonstrate consistent focus on nominal techniques, unification algorithms, concurrency theory, and formal verification. Key innovations include certified AC-unification algorithms, nominal anti-unification extensions, and translations between functional/concurrent calculi. Theoretical contributions are consistently validated through implementations in proof assistants.
Student Supervision: Actively advises graduate researchers:
- Current MSc students: Daniella Santaguida Magalhães, Gabriela Souza Ferreira, Leonardo Batista, Ali Khãn Ribeiro
- Former students: Bruno Falcão, Vinícius Sugimoto, Andrés Gonzalez, Deivid Vale, Bruno Delboni
Academic Service: Steering committee member for FSCD, UNIF, and LSFA conferences. Currently serving as DEI Chair (POPL 2024) and Co-Chair (WiL 2024), with extensive past program committee participation including FSCD, PPDP, and FORTE.
