Daniele Avitabile is a Professor in Mathematics at the Amsterdam Center for Dynamics and Computation, Free University Amsterdam, and a member of Inria's MathNeuro Team. He specializes in spatio-temporal pattern analysis in biological and physical models, with a focus on numerical and analytical methods.
- Current affiliations: Free University Amsterdam (Amsterdam Center for Dynamics and Computation), Inria MathNeuro Team
- Editor-in-Chief: SIAM series on Mathematical Neuroscience
Research Interests: Mathematical neuroscience, multi-scale dynamics, numerical bifurcation analysis, localized states, coherent structures, nonlinear media, reaction-diffusion systems, and nonlocal models. His work bridges computational methods with neurobiological systems to study dynamic patterns.
Recent Publications: Co-authored preprints on Radial Basis Function discretization for neural field models and uncertainty quantification in stochastic neural fields, both published in 2025.
