Prof. Daniela Pfeiffer is a Professor of Radiology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), affiliated with the TUM School of Medicine and Health. Her research focuses on advancing lung and musculoskeletal imaging through novel X-ray and CT techniques, particularly photon-counting CT, spectral CT, and dark-field imaging. She holds a medical degree from the University of Regensburg (summa cum laude, 2008), a master's in Business Health Administration, and is board-certified in radiology. After postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School, she returned to TUM as a senior physician at the Klinikum rechts der Isar.
Her work integrates machine learning for clinical applications, emphasizing precision diagnostics for COPD, lung cancer, and infectious diseases like COVID-19. Key innovations include dark-field radiography for emphysema staging and osteoporosis assessment. She serves on the TUM Ethics Committee and the RSNA Scientific Committee.
Notable achievements include the Röntgen Prize (2017) and recognition as a Rising Star ECR (2012). Her research bridges technical advancements with clinical impact, aiming to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes through novel imaging modalities.
