Daniela Mansbach is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, actively conducting research on human rights and power dynamics. She currently serves as Co-Principal Investigator for The Progressive Legislative Agenda: What Type of Policies Do Legislators Introduce and Why? project.
Her educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Politics and Political Theory (2011), The New School for Social Research
- M.A. in Cultural Studies (2005), Hebrew University of Jerusalem
- B.A. in Politics and Israeli Studies (2002), Ben-Gurion University
Her research critically examines maternal resistance within postmodern power structures and surveillance systems. She investigates how power operates in reproductive health legislation, religious freedom debates, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through interdisciplinary frameworks blending political theory, feminist studies, and human rights analysis. Her work reveals how marginalized groups navigate institutional control while asserting agency.
Publications consistently explore the intersection of policy, identity, and resistance across contexts from U.S. reproductive rights to Israeli checkpoints. Key themes include the strategic use of care in activism, normalization of violence in occupied territories, and evolving religious freedom arguments following landmark court decisions.
As Co-Principal Investigator for both current and past research projects—including the Evidence-Based Policy Making study on Wisconsin reproductive health legislation—she demonstrates strong leadership in connecting academic research with real-world policy development through collaborative team-based approaches.
