Daniela Fabricius

Daniela Fabricius is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania's Stuart Weitzman School of Design. She holds a PhD from Princeton University and teaches courses on architectural history, theory, and contemporary aesthetics. Her research focuses on postwar German architecture, feminist theory, and spatial reparations, with particular attention to rationalism, environmental activism, and marginalized architectural narratives. She advises PhD students in the History and Theory of Architecture program.

Her upcoming book The Ethics of Calculation examines contradictions in West German rationalist architecture (1968–1989), while her project on Jennifer Bloomer revitalizes feminist architectural discourse. Fabricius has received grants from the Graham Foundation, DAAD, and UPenn's University Research Foundation. She frequently lectures internationally, including keynote presentations at the Frei Otto 100 conference (2025) and MoMA's Third Ecology conference (2023).

Her work engages with institutions like the Ulm School of Design and Frei Otto's Institute for Lightweight Structures, analyzing intersections between technology, ethics, and politics. She participates in initiatives like the Penn and Slavery Project, exploring historical institutional ties to slavery.

Recent publications include studies on Frei Otto's measurement techniques, Bauhaus critiques in West Germany, and 1968 Berlin urban prognostication. Fabricius's interdisciplinary approach bridges architectural history with feminist theory, environmental activism, and media studies.
