معرفی
Daniela C. Rößler leads an Emmy Noether Research Group at the University of Bonn's Bonn Institute for Organismic Biology (Section II - Animal Diversity) and serves as an affiliated scientist with the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Konstanz.
Her research centers on sensory ecology and animal behavior with groundbreaking work in spider sleep ecology. Following her group's discovery of REM sleep-like states in jumping spiders, current research investigates sleep architecture, function, and evolution in arthropods. Additional focus areas include anti-predator adaptations, visual signaling, and animal coloration using integrative field and laboratory approaches driven by natural history observations.
Scientific Awards:
- Emmy Noether Group Leader (German Research Foundation)
Dr. Rößler actively mentors undergraduate and graduate students, hosting BA/MA candidates and interns in her lab. Her research program is funded through the Emmy Noether grant which supports independent junior research groups. She maintains global collaborations across disciplines and advocates for diversity in STEM through #LGBTQ+InStem and #BlackLivesMatter initiatives.
Her team operates within the University of Bonn's Section II - Animal Diversity, specializing in jumping spider (Salticidae) behavior and sleep ecology while maintaining strong institutional ties with the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior.
