Daniel Young is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Delaware. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire (2014), focusing on student difficulties in fluid dynamics and the application of resource graphs in educational analysis. Prior to UD, he served as a teaching post-doc at Gustavus Adolphus College (2014-2017), developing introductory physics curricula and designing a unique course on applying mathematics and physics to game shows. From 2017-2023, he worked at the University of North Carolina as a teaching professor, specializing in large-lecture instruction and integrating biological examples into foundational physics courses.
His research emphasizes improving physics education through curriculum innovation and student-centered pedagogy. Notable contributions include:
- Fluid dynamics education methodology
- Design of interdisciplinary physics modules
- Game-based learning strategies
At UD, he aims to advance fluids research collaborations and adapt his game show course for institutional integration. His teaching philosophy prioritizes accessibility and real-world application across diverse student populations.
