Daniel Wright is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Toronto (Mississauga campus). He serves as Interim Associate Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation - Strategic Initiatives, and holds roles as Graduate Faculty and Undergraduate Instructor. His primary affiliations include the Centre for New Theatre and the English & Drama Student Society.

Wright specializes in the theory and history of the novel, with a focus on 19th-century realism and queer/trans narratives. His research bridges literature with philosophy (ordinary language philosophy, ethics, metaphysics) and psychoanalysis. Current projects include editing Great Expectations for Norton Library and writing The Novel of Sexual Ideas.
His publications span Victorian literature, feminist/queer/trans theory, and novelistic structure. Thematic clusters include ethical ambiguity in realist fiction, psychoanalytic readings of desire, and ordinary language philosophy's impact on literary criticism. Articles appear in PMLA, Victorian Studies, and ELH.
