Dr Daniel Sullivan is a Research Fellow in Sleep Health and Clinical Psychologist at the Thompson Institute, University of the Sunshine Coast. He leads the ExPEDiTe Sleep Project to develop Australia's first psychology extended scope of practice model for pharmacotherapy management in sleep psychology, focusing on deprescribing hypnotic medicines. As part of the Let’s Yarn about Sleep group, he co-designs culturally responsive sleep programs for First Nations Australians, integrating Indigenous knowledge with sleep science. His expertise spans behavioral sleep aspects, clinical psychology, and health policy.
Education: PhD (Clinical Psychology) from Griffith University, MScMed (Sleep Medicine) from University of Sydney, BPsychSc (Hons I) and BMus from Griffith University.
Research interests include psychologist scope of practice expansion, sleep-related headaches, and sleep health equity. He edits Research Directions: Sleep Psychology (Cambridge UP) and is board-certified by the US Board of Behavioral Sleep Medicine. His work emphasizes deprescribing initiatives and community-driven healthcare solutions for Indigenous populations.
