Dr. Spade's research explores male reproductive toxicity, focusing on two primary projects: (1) the impacts of environmental chemicals and phthalates on fetal testis development, and (2) the role of sperm RNA as biomarkers of fertility and reproductive toxicity. His work integrates developmental biology, toxicogenomics, and automated cellular analysis to address environmental health risks.
Key publication trends include studies on phthalate exposure (2015-2025), retinoic acid interactions (2018-2022), sperm transcriptomics (2017-2025), and testicular development models (2013-2025). His work spans environmental toxicology, reproductive biology, and computational pathology applications.
- Scientific awards include the Edward W. Carney Trainee Award (2018), Best Reproductive/Developmental Toxicology Paper in Toxicological Sciences (2014), and a T32 Training Grant (2012-2015).
- He teaches Toxicology (BIOL 1865/2865) and collaborates extensively with Kim Boekelheide’s lab.
