Daniel Slichter is a Lecturer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where he conducts experimental research in quantum information processing using trapped atomic ions. He is part of the Ion Storage Group, focusing on scalable quantum computing architectures and precision metrology. His research emphasizes laser-free qubit control, quantum sensing below the standard quantum limit, and integrating superconducting detectors into ion traps.
His work bridges trapped ion systems with superconducting quantum technologies, including foundational contributions to continuous qubit measurement and quantum feedback mechanisms in superconducting circuits. Current projects include microwave-driven entangling operations and motion-mediated quantum interactions.
