Dr. Daniel Schmidt is a research associate in the Department of Political Theory and Democracy Studies at the University of Leipzig's Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy. He conducts research and teaches on political anthropology, modern statehood, and the historical development of power-knowledge relations over the past two centuries.
His research spans multiple domains including:

Dr. Schmidt has held significant administrative roles throughout his career. From 2003 to 2010, he served as Equal Opportunities Officer at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy, including a period as Deputy Equal Opportunities Officer (2006-2009). In 2010, he expanded his role to serve as Equal Opportunities Officer at the university level. From 2006 to 2011, he coordinated the profile-forming research area 'Contested Order – Risky Orders.'
Currently, he serves as program coordinator, academic advisor, and Erasmus+ coordinator at the institute, demonstrating his commitment to both academic research and institutional development. His contributions to teaching excellence were recognized in 2014 when he received the Theodor Litt Prize for outstanding commitment to teaching from the Association of Friends and Supporters of the University of Leipzig.
