Daniel Schindler is an Associate Professor of Theater at Whitman College, where he has been since 2015. He specializes in scenic design and merges liberal arts education with professional theater training. His professional affiliations include membership in United Scenic Artists #829 and roles such as Chair of Design, Technology, and Management for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (Region 7).
Education: MFA from Indiana University, Bloomington; BA from Montana State University, Bozeman. His work spans academic and professional theaters, including projects at the Toledo Repertory Theatre, Arvada Center (Denver), and Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts.
Research interests include international theater traditions (with fieldwork in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and China) and oral history preservation. Currently, he collaborates with Montana State University Archives on documenting the Virginia City Players' history.
Recognition includes the Gold Medallion Award for service to KCACTF and the Whitman College Suzanne L. Martin Mentoring Award. He teaches design, technology, and management in theater programs.
