Daniel S. Elliott serves as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics at Purdue University's Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, West Lafayette campus. His office is located in MSEE 258 with contact number +1 765-494-3442.
His research focuses on fundamental laser interactions with atoms and small molecules, with primary areas in Fields and Optics and Microelectronics and Nanotechnology. Key research domains include:
- Coherent control (two-pathway interference, ionization rate control, photoelectron angular distributions)
- Ultra-cold dipolar molecules (LiRb production via photoassociation in dual-species MOTs)
- Phase conjugate four-wave mixing in two-level systems
- Laser bandwidth effects on nonlinear optical interactions
His work has contributed to ultra-cold molecules, phase conjugate four-wave mixing, photoelectron angular distributions, and laser bandwidth modeling. Current projects include measuring weak transition moments in cesium and parity nonconserving transition amplitudes.
Professor Elliott holds a BS from Grove City College (1975) and PhD from University of Michigan (1981).
