Dr. Daniel Roozbahani is an Assistant Professor of Robotics Engineering at Widener University, where he teaches and conducts research in the School of Engineering. He is the leader of the ARTEMIS Lab (AI & Robotics Technology for Biomedical Engineering, Machine Intelligence, and Simulation), an advanced interdisciplinary research facility focusing on cutting-edge robotics and AI applications.
Dr. Roozbahani's educational background includes:
- D.Sc. in Robotics and Machine Automation from LUT University, Finland (2015)
- M.Sc. in Mechatronics from Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland (2011)
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (2003)
Before pursuing his advanced degrees, Dr. Roozbahani gained seven years of industry experience in the automotive sector, which provided practical foundation for his academic work. His research interests span a broad range of robotics and AI applications, with particular emphasis on practical implementations of emerging technologies. He has published nearly 50 academic papers in renowned journals and conferences and holds three patents related to robotics innovations.
Dr. Roozbahani's recent work shows strong trends in human-robot interaction systems, medical applications of robotics and AI, real-time monitoring and control systems, and additive manufacturing technologies. His research increasingly integrates virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and advanced sensing technologies to solve complex problems across multiple domains including biomedical engineering, industrial automation, and renewable energy systems.
Dr. Roozbahani has received several prestigious awards and recognitions:
- 2023: Best Presentation Award at the ICPDPMDC 2023 conference in New York
- 2023: Promoted to Senior Member of IEEE
- 2016-2019: Winner of the EU CIMO – FIRST Lecturing fund for four consecutive years

Dr. Roozbahani actively mentors students through various research projects, including the Skywalker drone project which was featured in Widener University news as "Soaring to Success: Student Project Develops Latest in Autonomous Drone Technology." His research has been supported through various collaborations with international institutions and companies. He serves as a research fellow at Wichita State University and as a research project manager at BRP-Rotax, contributing to advancements in Mobile Manufacturing Robotics (MMR), real-time ultra-high-speed monitoring, and human body real-time monitoring. Over the past two decades, he has served as a Project Manager for numerous projects at the forefront of robotics technology.
The ARTEMIS Lab, which Dr. Roozbahani leads, is an interdisciplinary research hub focusing on AI, robotics, and biomedical engineering. The lab houses several ongoing projects including Skywalker (Autonomous Drone with Advanced Flight, Landing, and Charging Capabilities), CENTAUR (Intelligent Ground Mobile Robot for Construction and Urban Monitoring), NeurOracle (AI-Driven Innovations in Biomedicine for Neurological Disease Forecasting), Thor's Hammer (Enhancing Motion Capture for Improved Throwing Records), CardioForecaster (Intelligent Biomedical Imaging for Future Cardiovascular Disease Risk Assessment), and RoboSimVRX (Real-Time Industrial Machinery Simulator). The lab fosters collaboration across engineering disciplines and with industry partners to develop practical robotics solutions for real-world challenges.
