Prof. Dr. Daniel Reimann is Professor of Didactics of Romance Languages and Literatures at Humboldt University of Berlin, Faculty of Languages and Literature, Institute of Romance Studies. He holds the Chair for Didactics of Romance Languages and Literatures with particular focus on French, Italian, and Spanish language teaching in educational contexts, extending to Portuguese and Romanian language didactics with special attention to multilingual education approaches.
His educational background includes studies in Classical Philology, Romance Studies, and Educational Sciences at Würzburg, Strasbourg, and Padua, with additional language courses in Dijon, Caen, Perugia, Coimbra, Lisbon, and Salamanca. He received numerous academic honors including first prize in the National Foreign Language Competition and special awards from the German Federal Ministry of Education and the French Republic Embassy.
Dr. Reimann's research focuses on neurolinguistic foundations of language learning, multilingual didactics (particularly connecting classical and Romance languages), language teaching methodology, interfaces between linguistics and foreign language research, cultural and literary didactics, and inclusive language teaching. His recent publications reveal strong trends in heritage language education, receptive variety competence, historical perspectives on language teaching, and inclusive approaches to teaching Romance languages in multilingual contexts.
His scholarly contributions include 15 recent publications that span historical analysis of language teaching, contemporary didactic approaches, multilingual education, and specific language teaching methodologies for Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian in German educational contexts.

Dr. Reimann actively supervises 12 doctoral students and Habilitation candidates. His research projects include neurobiological correlates of multilingual learning, epistemological connections between classical and modern language teaching, and the history of foreign language teacher education in the 19th century. He is establishing a Didactic Workshop for Romance Studies at HU Berlin and organizing interdisciplinary research colloquia on Italy and Portugal. He also provides consultation to educational institutions and ministries in curriculum development for Romance languages and contributes to textbook projects for multiple Romance languages.
