معرفی
Daniel Patrick Twohig is a Research Fellow at Lund University, affiliated with the Neural Stem Cells research group led by Prof. Anna Falk. He is also part of the national initiative StemTherapy: National Initiative on Stem Cells for Regenerative Therapy. His work focuses on developing therapeutic neural stem cell products for ischemic stroke repair and investigating the role of alpha-synuclein in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's.
- Education: PhD in Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology (Stockholm University, 2021), MScRes in Neurosciences (Vrije University, Amsterdam), BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and Biology (Brock University, Canada)
His research spans Neurosciences, Medical Sciences, and Molecular Neurobiology, with a particular emphasis on neural stem cells, Alzheimer's disease, and cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers. He has contributed to studies on the brain's response to SARS-CoV-2, APOE ε4's role in brain integrity, and synucleinopathies.
Recent publications highlight trends in neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, biomarker discovery, and stem cell-based therapies. Collaborations include international projects in Italy and Sweden.
Scientific Awards:
- Swedish Brain Foundation (Hjärnfonden) postdoctoral fellowship (2022)
Daniel actively participates in academic events, including co-organizing Neuroscience Day 2024 and the Neurobiology Section Retreat (2024). His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
