Daniel Nyström is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Education at the Department of Education, Umeå University, within the Faculty of Social Sciences. He serves as Director of Studies, overseeing education in 'pedagogik' and the department's teaching activities. His research focuses on education, contemporary history, and historiography, with active projects comparing social studies subjects (history, geography, religious studies, social studies) and analyzing cultural debates from the past two decades (funded by Ridderstads stiftelse för historisk grafisk forskning).
Key research interests include historical methodology, textbook analysis, and the intersection of education and historiography. He leads the research group 'Utbildningshistoria vid Pedagogiska institutionen' and contributes to 'History and education' and the Umeå Research Centre for Social Studies Didactics (UmSOD).
