Daniel Neofetou is a Lecturer in Visual Culture at Middlesex University's School of Design, with a research focus on art history, political philosophy, and critical theory. His academic work interrogates the intersection of aesthetics and ideology, particularly through analyses of abstract expressionism, Cold War cultural politics, and contemporary visual practices. As a filmmaker, he directed the 2024 award-winning short film Promulgate. Neofetou is also an active curator and artist, organizing exhibitions like Burgess Park Sculpture Garden (2023) and co-organizing the avant-garde event series Sector 7G (2018-2022).
His research spans critical theory, media studies, and decolonial aesthetics, examining topics such as medium specificity, algorithmic attention, and the political dimensions of artistic autonomy. Recent publications include analyses of Peter J. Kalliney's The Aesthetic Cold War in Marx and Philosophy Review of Books (2025) and contributions to conferences like the Association for Art History 2024 Annual Conference. Neofetou's teaching includes modules on socially responsible design and future-oriented media practices.
