Daniel Marinho

Daniel Marinho is a Full Professor at the Department of Sports Sciences (DCD) of the University of Beira Interior (UBI), and serves as the scientific coordinator of UBI’s Centre for Research in Sport, Health and Human Development (CIDESD). He was recently selected to coordinate the European Aquatics Academy, an entity regulating swimming and aquatic activities across 52 European federations. His role involves developing training programs for coaches, referees, athletes, and organizational leaders in aquatic disciplines.

Marinho’s academic and professional contributions have positioned UBI/CIDESD as an international reference in sports sciences. He holds a 2022 appointment to the Advisory Committee for Science and Development of the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP), and participated in the 2023 European Youth Olympic Festival, contributing to a gold medal win for Portugal. His work emphasizes bridging scientific research with practical applications in sports, supported by UBI’s Rectorate.

Research interests focus on sports science, aquatic disciplines, and interdisciplinary development in health and human performance. The CIDESD center under his leadership drives innovation in these fields through collaborations with international partners.
