Daniel M. Rosenbaum

Daniel M. Rosenbaum, MD is Distinguished Service Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. Board-certified in vascular neurology, he also serves patients at University Hospital at Downstate. Before this role he was Vice-Chair of Neurology, Professor of Neurology & Ophthalmology, and Associate Professor of Neuroscience at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he directed the Stern Stroke Center at Montefiore Medical Center.

Research Interests

Dr. Rosenbaum’s work centers on cerebrovascular diseases, spanning bench-to-bedside investigation of stroke pathophysiology, neuroprotective strategies, neuro-ophthalmologic correlates of cerebrovascular events, and large-scale clinical trials in vascular neurology. His federally funded studies have advanced understanding of cerebral blood-flow regulation and improved outcomes after ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.

Laboratory & Clinical Teams

As Chair, Dr. Rosenbaum oversees the Department of Neurology at Downstate, directing multidisciplinary stroke teams, resident and fellowship training programs, and collaborative translational laboratories focused on cerebrovascular biology and neuro-critical care innovation.
