Daniel M. A. Barreto is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Amsterdam. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Sciences Po (2023), advised by Eduardo Perez-Richet. His research focuses on microeconomic theory with emphasis on information economics, behavioral economics, and political economics. He collaborates frequently with Victor Augias and Alexis Ghersengorin.
His work explores topics such as optimal market segmentation for redistributive goals and persuasion mechanisms involving non-Bayesian decision makers. Current projects include regulatory frameworks for market segmentation and studies on wishful thinking in decision contexts.
Recent contributions appear in venues like the ACM Conference on Economics and Computation (EC'24). He maintains active research agendas in both theoretical and applied microeconomics, emphasizing policy-relevant insights from economic mechanisms.
