Daniel Lidar holds the Viterbi Professorship in Engineering at USC with joint appointments in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, and Physics. As Director of the Center for Quantum Information Science & Technology, his research advances fault-tolerant quantum computation through dynamical decoupling, quantum error correction, and adiabatic quantum computing frameworks.
Major contributions include:
- Pioneering decoherence-free subspaces and quantum error correction protocols
- Developing quantum annealing correction techniques
- Establishing theoretical foundations for adiabatic computing in open systems
Honored as AAAS/APS/IEEE Fellow, he holds patents on dressed qubits and quantum gate designs with over 200 publications.
