Daniel Leon Pottie

Dr. Daniel Leon Pottie is a Lecturer in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at the University of Bedfordshire's School of Computer Science and Technology. He holds a BSc and MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil) and a PhD from Loughborough University (UK). His research focuses on Thermo Mechanical Energy Storage, Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES), and Infrared Thermal Imaging. Prior to joining Bedfordshire in September 2024, he worked as a Research Associate and Fellow at Loughborough University and the University of Birmingham. Dr. Pottie teaches Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Thermal Fluids, and Fluid Mechanics. He is affiliated with research institutes such as the Institute for Research in Applicable Computing (IRAC) and the Institute for Research in Engineering and Sustainable Environment (IRESE). His work addresses energy storage efficiency, system design, and stakeholder perceptions in decarbonization initiatives.
