Daniel Lassiter is a Senior Lecturer in Semantics at the University of Edinburgh, within the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences and the Linguistics & English Language department. His work bridges formal semantics, cognitive science, and probability theory.
- Education: Ph.D. in Linguistics from New York University (2011), supervised by Chris Barker.
Research Interests: Focus on semantics and pragmatics, particularly probabilistic models of meaning in conditionals, vagueness, presupposition, and modals. Integrates computational cognitive science with linguistic theory.
Recent Publications: Analyze conditional reasoning, causal inference from correlational language, and semantic category formation in neural networks using Bayesian models and experimental psychology methods.
