Daniel Kasabov

Daniel Kasabov is a Chief Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He has been part of the department's staff since 2019 as a part-time lecturer and became a Chief Assistant in 2021. Concurrently, since 2013, he has been working at the Directorate "Economic Research and Forecasts" of the Bulgarian National Bank, where he actively participates in research, analytical and forecasting activities. He is also a participant in various working groups of the Monetary Policy Committee of the European System of Central Banks.

Dr. Kasabov has specialized in macroeconomics and economic forecasting through collaborations with leading international institutions including the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank, the Bank of England, and the Central Bank of France. His research spans several critical areas of modern economics:

• Macroeconomic forecasting
• Inflation dynamics and pricing mechanisms
• Economic growth determinants
• Monetary policy transmission mechanisms
• Interrelationship between monetary and fiscal policy

His teaching portfolio includes courses on Money, banks and financial markets; Public Finance; Macroeconomics; Applied macroeconomic analysis and forecasting; and International economics. Dr. Kasabov has participated in numerous international, national and university research projects, contributing significantly to understanding Bulgaria's economic landscape within the European context.

Dr. Kasabov's publication record demonstrates a strong focus on applying macroeconomic theory to the Bulgarian context, particularly examining how European Central Bank policies transmit to Bulgaria's economy, inflation dynamics, investment determinants, and the interplay between potential output and unemployment. His work combines rigorous econometric modeling with practical policy insights, making significant contributions to both academic discourse and practical economic policymaking in Bulgaria.

Dr. Kasabov maintains active engagement with the international economics community through participation in working groups of the European System of Central Banks and collaborations with major financial institutions worldwide. His dual role in academia and central banking provides a unique perspective that enriches both his research and teaching.
