Daniel I. Block

Daniel I. Block is the John R. Sampey Professor of Old Testament Interpretation and Associate Dean at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Liverpool, England. His academic focus includes Old Testament studies, biblical theology, and worship. Key publications include two-volume commentaries on Ezekiel, Judges and Ruth, and a forthcoming Deuteronomy commentary, alongside a theological work on worship. Dr. Block is actively involved in the Evangelical Theological Society, Institute of Biblical Research, and Society of Biblical Literature. He has also served in pastoral roles across multiple Baptist denominations. His research emphasizes exegetical rigor and theological application, with a particular interest in the intersection of worship and scriptural interpretation.

Dr. Block has presented at conferences such as the 2003 'Power & the Promise of the Word' and 2005 'For All It’s Worth' events.
