Daniel Howe is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for MA/MSc Modular programs at the University of the Arts London's Creative Computing Institute. As an American artist and educator working with critical software, his practice examines algorithmic culture, digital surveillance, and computational representation through installations, software interventions, and media artworks.
His research explores the intersection of natural language processing, generative systems, and sociotechnical critique. Notable projects include The Readers Project (algorithmic text exploration), AdNauseam (privacy tool that obfuscates advertising profiles), and Spectre (interactive installation critiquing digital influence industries). His deepfake artwork series 'Big Dada' featuring reimagined historical figures has been acquired by the British Film Institute National Archive.
Howe develops open-source tools for computational literature including RiTa, a toolkit for natural language generation in creative coding environments. His work has been exhibited internationally at venues including ZKM, LACMA, and Transmediale, with recognition from the Arts Council England and Columbia University.
