Daniel Hooley is a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Capilano University within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Toronto (2018) and a BA in Philosophy and International Relations from Calvin College (2009).
Research Focus: Moral and political philosophy, particularly the political status of non-human animals, state obligations to animals, and intersections with bioethics, environmental ethics, and effective altruism.
Publications: His work explores animal rights, interspecies governance, and ethical dietary practices, emphasizing policy implications and moral frameworks. Notable collaborations include Philosophy Comes to Dinner (2015) and the Palgrave Handbook of Philosophy and Public Policy (2018).
Awards: Associate Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics.
