Daniel Hindman

Daniel Hindman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sustainable Biomaterials at Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources and Environment. His research centers on low-carbon biomaterials for construction, emphasizing structure, safety, and sustainability. A licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia, he contributes to organizations like the American Society of Civil Engineers and National Frame Building Association.

His research spans cross-laminated timber (CLT), bamboo composites, and digital fabrication. Collaborations with Architecture faculty have yielded innovations in sustainable building systems, including a CLT train viewing platform in Radford.
