Daniel Garber is the A. Watson J. Armour III University Professor of Philosophy at Princeton University, with joint appointments in History of Science and Politics. His research examines the intersections of philosophy, science, and society during the Scientific Revolution, particularly focusing on Descartes, Leibniz, and French Aristotelianism.
Research domains include:
- Early modern metaphysics and epistemology
- Descartes' natural philosophy
- Leibnizian dynamics and monadology
- Aristotelian critiques in 17th-century France
His influential publications analyze conceptual shifts in physics, mathematics, and metaphysics during the Scientific Revolution. Recent work explores theological dimensions in Leibniz's philosophy and Gassendi's anti-Aristotelianism.
