Daniel Fortin-Guichard

Dr. Daniel Fortin-Guichard is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education, part of McGill University's Faculty of Education. He specializes in perceptual-cognitive skills, talent identification in high-performance sports, and classification in parasports. His work bridges academia and applied settings, including advising Quebec Remparts hockey scouts and coaching ultimate frisbee.

Education:

• PhD in Psychology (Université Laval, 2020)
• Postdoctoral Fellowships at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2020–2022) and University of Toronto (2022–2024)

• Talent identification through psychological characteristics
• Cognitive biases in athlete selection
• Para sports classification systems
• Technology integration in sport psychology

Applied Work: Collaborates with Quebec Remparts hockey team to assess players' perceptual-cognitive skills. Also serves as a high-performance coach in ultimate frisbee and organizes Fantasy Hockey leagues.

Grants/Advising: Currently accepting two M.A. students for 2025–26 focusing on talent identification and cognitive biases in selection.
