Daniel Fishel

Daniel Fishel is an Adjunct Professor at the College for Creative Studies, with additional teaching roles at City Tech (Brooklyn, NY) and the University of the Arts (Philadelphia, PA). He earned a BFA in Illustration from the University of the Arts (2009) and an MFA in Illustration with a visual essay from the School of Visual Arts (2011).

His work focuses on figurative, evocative conceptual illustrations that explore tensions between individuals, society, and institutions of power. He employs visual devices like metaphor, juxtaposition, and irony to critique societal blight while retaining hope for redemption.

Notable accolades include being named to Forbes 30 Under 30 in Art/Style, Print Magazine’s New Visual Artists, and recognition by the Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, and 3×3 Magazine.

As a freelance illustrator and animator since 2009, he has collaborated with clients such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, TIME Magazine, Netflix, and Apple. He previously worked in-house for Group Nine Media (now part of Vox Media) and currently contracts part-time with DotDash Meredith.
