Prof. Daniel Fischer is a Professor of Sustainability Education & Communication at Leuphana University of Lüneburg and holds the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education for Sustainable Development since 2024. His work focuses on leveraging communication and learning to foster sustainable consumption practices and reflexivity in industrialized societies. He leads the SuCo2 research group, exploring interventions like mindfulness, storytelling, and citizen science to disrupt entrenched consumer behaviors.
Previously, he served as Assistant Professor at Arizona State University (USA) and Associate Professor at Wageningen University (Netherlands), specializing in consumer communication and sustainability. His research employs transdisciplinary methods to analyze cultural and temporal shifts in consumption patterns.
Research Focus: Empowering individuals to transform their relationships with consumerism through educational and communicative interventions. Key areas include intervention design, reflexive practices, and cross-cultural sustainability education.
