Associate Professor Daniel Featherstone is an academic and Principal Research Fellow at RMIT University’s School of Media & Communication. His work focuses on digital inclusion, Indigenous media, and telecommunications equity, particularly for remote First Nations communities. He leads projects funded by ARC and Telstra, analyzing the digital divide’s impact on education, health, and infrastructure.
Research interests include automated decision-making systems, media studies, and policy advocacy for marginalized groups. He contributes to the Australian Digital Inclusion Index (ADII) and collaborates with Indigenous communities to design culturally responsive technology solutions.
Key projects include the 'Mapping the Digital Gap' series assessing connectivity in remote areas like Tennant Creek, Kalumburu, and Erub Island. His work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Health), 4 (Education), 9 (Infrastructure), and 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
