Dr. Daniel Chang is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2013), an MS from the same institution (2008), and a BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2002). His research focuses on computer architecture, memory systems, 3D integration technology, mobile processors, low-power computing systems, and digital system design. He actively advises the IEEE student organization and the Magic: The Gathering club.
His research highlights include collaborations with undergraduate students to develop specialized computer architectures for neural systems and improving educational outcomes in introductory computer engineering courses. Notable publications include works on 3D stacked memory systems, dynamic bandwidth scaling for embedded DSPs, and pedagogical innovations using LEGO and Arduino in freshman design courses.
