Daniel Boylan

Daniel Boylan is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech, within the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Technology from Purdue University (2016), and dual degrees from Indiana University: a BS in Accounting and an MBA in Accounting. His expertise spans Audit, Law, Technology, and Consumer Finance, with a focus on innovative applications of technology in financial contexts.

His research interests include leveraging technology such as social media (e.g., Twitter) to enhance financial decision-making and shareholder value. Dan has over 25 publications, extensive audit experience at PwC and Lincoln National Corporation, and has taught since 1996, earning multiple teaching awards. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
