Dr. Daniel Bothner leads the Microwave Team at the University of Tübingen, affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Department of Physics. His research focuses on superconducting microwave resonators, Josephson junctions, and hybrid quantum systems integrating cold atoms, micromechanical oscillators, and spin ensembles.
- Developing tunable microwave circuits for quantum control and sensing
- Exploring photon-pressure and flux-mediated optomechanics
- Engineering high-quality superconducting devices for extreme experimental conditions
- Investigating nonlinear dynamics and quantum fluctuations in microwave circuits
- Advancing hybrid quantum technologies via DFG-funded projects
His team has published extensively on microwave optomechanics, Josephson circuits, and cold-atom integration, with recent work appearing in Physical Review Applied (2025) and Science Advances (2022). Grants include DFG projects BO 6068/1-1 and BO 6068/2-1, and collaborations with the Vector Foundation. Former students include Kevin Uhl (PhD 2024), Timo Kern (MSc 2024), and Mohamad (now PhD student).
