Daniel Bartholomay is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of North Dakota, specializing in LGBTQ+ communities, health disparities, and community-based research. He earned his PhD in Sociology (2019) and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s & Gender Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an M.S. in Sociology from North Dakota State University (2014), and a B.S. in Mass Communications from Minnesota State University-Moorhead (2011).

Bartholomay’s research focuses on inequalities, health disparities, and family dynamics within marginalized populations, particularly LGBTQ+ communities. He also explores the scholarship of teaching and learning, with a recent publication on open educational resources (OERs) and their role in promoting educational equity. His work intersects pedagogical innovation, community engagement, and critical analysis of heteronormative structures.
His peer-reviewed articles span topics such as bisexuality in marriage, accessibility in post-COVID teaching, and digital health communication. These publications reflect a consistent emphasis on equity, inclusivity, and social justice, often informed by community-based research methodologies.
