Prof. Daniel Bardayan is a Professor of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Notre Dame's College of Science. He directs the Notre Dame Nuclear Science Laboratory (NSL) and focuses on explosive nucleosynthesis in stellar events like novae, supernovae, and X-ray bursts. His experimental work uses advanced facilities such as the TWINSOL spectrometer, Gammasphere array, and JENSA gas-jet target to study exotic nuclei.
Education: Ph.D. in Physics (Yale University, 1999), B.S. in Physics (Tennessee Tech, 1993). Honors include Fellow of the American Physical Society.
Research emphasizes astrophysical reaction rates, nuclear structure, and detector development. Recent articles explore topics like neutron capture on tin isotopes, proton decay branching ratios, and fusion dynamics at sub-barrier energies.
