Daniel B. Brown is Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiology & Radiological Sciences at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, as well as Professor of Biomedical Engineering. He holds the Carol D. and Henry P. Pendergrass Professorship and serves as Vice Chair of Innovation & Clinical Research in the Department of Radiology.
Dr. Brown completed his Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Penn State University (1997-1999).
Dr. Brown's research focuses on Interventional Oncology with particular expertise in cancer treatment through minimally invasive procedures. His work centers on locoregional therapy of cancer, including Cryoablation and other thermal ablation modalities. He has collaborated extensively with Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering (VISE) members to determine quantitative endpoints for minimally invasive cancer interventions such as chemoembolization and tumor ablation.
Dr. Brown has received the following professional recognition:

With over 260 published articles and scientific abstracts, Dr. Brown has made significant contributions to interventional radiology literature. He has delivered more than 300 invited talks globally and has served on the Executive Council of both the Society of Interventional Radiology and Society of Interventional Oncology. Dr. Brown has been with Vanderbilt University Medical Center since 2013, where he leads research initiatives advancing interventional oncology techniques and improving cancer patient outcomes through innovative minimally invasive approaches.
