Daniel A. Gorelick, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Biology. His research utilizes genetic tools in zebrafish to study how endogenous and environmental hormones influence the development and function of organs including the heart, brain, and gonad.
Education:
- B.A. from University of Pennsylvania
- Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
- Postdoctoral Fellowships: AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship (US Department of State) and Developmental Biology, Endocrinology (Carnegie Institution for Science)
Research Focus: Dr. Gorelick's work bridges cell signaling, environmental influences on development, and zebrafish genetics. His team investigates hormone-mediated processes using CRISPR-based methods, receptor characterization, and high-throughput screening approaches to understand fundamental biological mechanisms and toxicological responses.
Publication Trends: Recent articles focus on improving scientific peer review, zebrafish models for vaccine development and toxicology, estrogen receptor mechanisms, and novel screening platforms. This reflects dual emphases on research methodology innovation and molecular mechanisms of endocrine disruption.
Funding: Actively supported by NIH/NIEHS and NIH/NICHD grants investigating aryl hydrocarbon receptor interactions and developmental toxicity mechanisms.
