Professor Daniel Östlund is a leading expert in special education and relational pedagogy at Kristianstad University's Faculty of Teacher Education. He teaches in the special education teacher program, master's program in educational science, and doctoral program in pedagogical work while supervising four doctoral students and one licentiate.

Collaborations include Mälardalen University, Dalarna University, and multiple Swedish municipalities.
Recent publications span topics from avatar-based teacher training simulations to curriculum adaptations for technology-dense classrooms. Key research areas include inclusive education, relational competence, didactic strategies, and international comparative studies with Germany and Sweden.
