Dania Thafer

Dania Thafer is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University, specializing in political economy and international relations with regional expertise in Gulf Cooperation Council states. Her research examines state-business relationships in rentier economies and their impact on economic development.

As Executive Director of the Gulf International Forum, she leads research on Gulf regional issues. Thafer has co-edited books on Gulf security and defense and is currently writing a monograph on economic reform in GCC states. Her academic background includes a PhD in Political Science from American University and an MA in Political Economy from NYU.
